Online Abstract Submission

Thank you for considering the submission of your work for presentation to the 27th edition of the European Symposium on Computer-Aided Process Engineering - ESCAPE-27.

Oral and poster contributions are both welcome on subjects within the general scope of the ESCAPE Conference Series, including those related to the specific motivation of this edition: CAPE applications addressing Global Grand Challenges (see the list of topics for details).

Please take note that it's absolutely necessary to make the Pre-registration in order to obtain the “password” and “user” before to submit your abstract.
Abstracts can only be submitted through the “Online Submission” webpage. Please follow the submission procedure described below. Your abstract will be saved and you will be able to modify it till the submission deadline.

The deadline for Abstract Submission is 07th November 2016.

Abstract Preparation Guidelines

Abstracts are one-page documents with title, list of authors and their affiliations, and abstract body. The size of the text is limited to 3000 characters, including spaces and punctuation. You may also upload one image (.jpg, .png or .gif file, size < 1 MB) with tables, equations and/or figures, although in this case the text has to be limited to 2300 characters.

The abstract must be written in English and should be informative: it must allow the reviewers to make an intelligent decision about the potential of your contribution and to invite you to prepare a full paper to be presented at ESCAPE-27.

It is suggested to include in the abstract the following information:

  • Motivation/Objectives/Background – why the study was performed. Novelty.
  • Methods - key methods utilized in the study: what and how it was done.
  • Major Results - the results should be clear and, if relevant, they should include quantitative information (Key Performance Indicators, etc.). You may consider to use tables or figures, as indicated above. It is usually inadequate to state: "The results will be discussed" or "the data will be presented".
  • Conclusions - Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study. Include implications of findings, limitations of your study, and recommendations, when appropriate.
  • References: If necessary (references in the text should be given by numbers in brackets).

Astract Submission Procedure

  • Pre-register or sign-in to the submission page.
  • Fill in the general information of your contribution: title, desired presentation format and topic/subtopic. You also will be asked to accept the transfer of publishing rights.
  • Introduce the required information about the authors.
  • Insert the text of your abstract and, eventually, upload one image file.
  • Check your abstract and complete the submission.
  • Confirmation will be shown; you will also receive an e-mail with your paper-ID.
If you have difficulties in submitting your abstract or if you need any further information, please contact the organizers

When submitting an Abstract to ESCAPE-27, you are accepting that:
  • The author(s) has not presented this information/result to another scientific meeting and/or published the same information/results in a scientific journal, nor will the information/results be published. If the paper is finally accepted, the transfer of the publishing rights will be required.
  • The accuracy of the submitted information/results is the responsibility of the author(s). Author(s) should prepare and proofread their abstracts carefully prior to submission.
Presentation option

When submitting your Abstract, a preferred presentation mode must be selected (Oral or Poster Presentation). The Scientific Committee may modify this selection according to the subject, nature and relevance of the work, and/or to ensure the scientific/technical coherence of the sessions.

Topic/Subtopic selection

When submitting your Abstract, a preferred topic/subtopic area must be selected. The Scientific Committee may modify this selection to ensure the scientific/technical coherence of the sessions.

Abstract Review Process

Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by ESCAPE Scientific Committee taking into account the following criteria:

  • Relevance and interest of the problem and its solution for the CAPE/PSE community.
  • Innovation/improvement over the current state of the art: What is new in relation to previous work? Which are the significant new accomplishments?
  • Significance of findings: Which is the impact or significance of the results to the CAPE/PSE community?
On notification of acceptance, authors will be invited to submit a full paper, which will be fully refereed. The final decision will be taken on the basis of the full paper.

Registration Policy

Each presenting author is entitled to submit one contribution to ESCAPE-27 per registration fee (1 Paper = 1 Registration), although he/she may also be co-author of Abstracts submitted by other presenting authors.
Check WCCE-10 registration policy if you are planning to submit additional contributions to other Tracks and/or specialized Symposia to be celebrated in the framework of the 10th WCCE.

The maximum number of WCCE – 10 submitted abstracts is limited to the type of the Registration Fees as follows:
  • Full Registration Fee: Each full registered author can submit a maximum of 2 abstracts.
  • Student Registration Fee: Each Student registered author can submit a maximum of 1 abstract

Publication Policy

Accepted papers will be published by Elsevier in a dedicated volume of the Computer Aided Chemical Engineering series. These proceedings will be distributed in electronic format to all conference participants before the conference.
Extended versions of selected papers will be invited to participate in special issues of specialized journals, after the conference.
